All We Can Do Is Pray…

Recently, I heard someone sigh and say, “All you can do is pray.” We do that so often, as if that is equivalent to giving up.

It made me think of the paralytic that was carried to Jesus. We don’t even know if he wanted to go! It didn’t matter. His friends picked him up, broke the roof in, and dropped him at the feet of Jesus. He did have to have his own faith to be healed, but it was his friends who put him in the position to meet Jesus. We don’t even know if they would have agreed to carry him home had he refused healing! They were planning on only carrying him one way.

We have the same power to carry our friends to the feet of Jesus, whether they want to be there or not. They can ask us not to pray, but we get to say, “Nope! I pray for you so much that you live here now. You’re not leaving until you open your eyes and see Jesus.”

Jesus Himself said that this was better! He had to go so that we could have the power of the Holy Spirit, yes for living, but also for praying. It is more powerful to take our friends to God in prayer than to drag them to the physical feet of Jesus. Once we get hold of that truth, we won’t be able to stop praying.
